Patrick Martin, European Marketing Director
Patrick Martin, European Marketing Director
"I can clearly remember being approached by the management of WE Fashion," Patrick Martin begins. Back then, the organisation was looking for a surprising, creative and marketing strategic person who would bring a new and dynamic perspective. "I - born and raised in England - found this a great honour and challenge. I’m glad I dared to take the leap." It's 2019 when Patrick makes his entrance at WE®. He moves to the Netherlands and starts as a Marketing Director soon after. "I already knew WE® by name, having bumped into the CEO at a retail conference. I immediately clicked with him, so I took this opportunity without any hesitance. Once I started and discovered the company's ambition, I knew right then and there that I had made the correct choice. I was incredibly curious about the team and eager to discover what the future held."
Other reasons that made Patrick move to the Netherlands several years ago are the organisation's business mentality and innovative vision. "WE Fashion believes in Better Together. To my knowledge, it's the only fashion brand that lives up to its brand values to celebrate people connecting. Here, style is not just about the clothes you wear or how you look, but also how you treat others," Patrick explains. According to him, this mind-set is felt in all layers of the company. "One moment you’re having lunch with your department and the next moment you and your team are pitching a new idea to the CEO. I think this shows how nice it is here." In addition, this cooperative approach also has a big part to play in various working methods. Patrick: "Often, ideas generated within a team are more powerful than those from outside. That's why we have the opportunity to do everything in-house. Not only the creation of our collections, but also that of the creative marketing campaigns. The positive collaboration here is a fact and not just a slogan. We are the creators of our own brand identity."

“The world of fashion is always in motion. And that’s precisely why, as an organisation, you never stop learning,” Patrick admits. "With our digital growth and expansion to more than 20 countries in Europe, there are endless lessons to be learned. My knowledge of marketing is tested on the daily and together with my team, I try to meet our customer’s needs in an innovative and creative way. A good example of this is the WE DO campaign we had the pleasure of launching in April 2022." The cross-media project - which received a lot of positive feedback in a short period of time - is an important milestone for Patrick to date. "This marketing campaign focused on weddings and celebrated love - in any form. We wanted to show that WE® dresses for all moments: from the big party to the honeymoon. I'm really proud that we managed to reflect that."
"I am proud of the results we've achieved, but apart from that I’m also very proud of my team," Patrick says, looking back over the past few years. "I love developing an idea with them, starting with little more than a piece of paper and a pencil. That's the magic of creativity for me." As for the future, he says the following: "I like to live in the moment and not look too far ahead. I think that's one of the reasons I got into marketing. I look at trends, move with them and use them to realise new concepts. So, this is something I hope to do more of and with greater frequency in the coming years."

Marije has been working at WE Fashion for three years and knows all the ins and outs of buying: "It's important to keep your eyes open, observe what's happening in the market and translate these outcomes - together with current sales results - into a new and even better collection. In all this communication and teamwork are key."
Shannon has completely settled in at WE®: “I’ve been promoted several times. I believe that anything is possible, as long as you are eager to learn.”
Patrick is a big believer in teamwork and very proud of his team: "I love working with them to develop an idea, starting with little more than a piece of paper and a pencil."
