"As the manager of Accounting & Reporting, I bear responsibility for the correct and complete processing of all financial streams within the organisation," Bastiaan Terlage begins. "I currently manage a team of seven people. Together, we strive for the best results.” It's 2015 when Bastiaan first starts at WE Fashion. Approached to fill his current position, he happily accepts the job and immediately feels at home. "At WE® anyone is welcome. An informal and transparent culture prevails, which is noticeable throughout the entire organisation,” he explains. His job is great as is, but the one thing that makes it even more fun, is his contact with colleagues and the opportunity to experience projects up close. "As a result, I not only learn lots about my own profession, but also discover business processes that far from everyone has an understanding of."

"At WE®, we're keen to help each other, while adding to the innovation of the organisation," Bastiaan says. "We do everything in collaboration, not only in the Finance department, but also far beyond." To contribute to this cooperative nature in the best possible way, WE Fashion regularly organises and supports multidisciplinary activities for employees. These include internal training courses, sessions and the opportunity for sports. “A good development,” Bastiaan admits. "Through such activities, you get to know yourself and your colleagues even better, which makes communication more accessible. In addition, you discover each other's qualities and improvements, so you can continue to grow together. In seven years, this has made it much easier for me to move inside and outside the organisation." Besides this, the company is constantly evolving as an omni-channel organisation in the fashion industry. According to Bastiaan, another reason he enjoys his job so much. "No day is the same, so there's plenty of variety for me. Think, for example, of connecting different countries with our external partner Zalando or being involved in projects from other departments, such as Brands WE® loves. This diversity offers me and my team a different challenge every day."

The future

Reflecting briefly on the highlights of his career, Bastiaan adds: "Winning the Togetherness award - an annual prize - was a great compliment to me. My job also has its difficult moments, yet I enjoy going to work every day. I think that shows how nice it is here." Although he doesn't quite know what the future holds for him, he definitely sees it at WE Fashion. "I hope I get to broaden my knowledge even further. This organisation offers you great opportunities. All you have to do is show yourself," Bastiaan says.
